Loose Leaf Teas and Infusions
Our extensive range of loose-leaf speciality teas includes Black, Green, Oolong and Yellow teas. We change the tea menu from time to time due to seasonal availability and in order to bring you the widest range possible! When preparing the tea we weigh out the tea leaves and the water and give you a tea timer and a carafe so that you can decant your tea when it has reached the perfect infusion. Your tea is served in a glass tea-ere so that you can watch the leaves unfurl as you relax. We also offer a selection of whole-leaf caffeine-free infusions. Our teas and infusions are all sourced from experts who deal direct with growers.
Ruth spent 5 years working for Fairtrade pioneers Cafedirect, where she worked directly with both coffee and tea growers. Whilst working there she visited tea growers in Kenya to find out more about growing, picking and processing tea and to visit projects supported by Fairtrade premiums. She also learned about Chinese teas and some of the history, philosophy and culture of tea whilst visiting the tea growing province of Fujian in China to study Kung Fu. If you want to try a new tea and are not quite sure what to try, ask for a recommendation to suit your taste preference or just work your way through the tea menu! Bean & Bud was awarded Best Tea in the UK in the Beverage Standards Awards 2014. Ruth also came 3rd in the inaugural UK Tea Brewers Cup 2015.
