Co-founder & Owner
Hayden spent 10 years hanging from trees in North London wielding a chainsaw (in an official capacity as a tree surgeon!) He also spent 5 years working and studying in his parental home of New Zealand and thinks this qualifies him to know all about Flat Whites! When not in the shop he can be found cycling around the Dales.

Ruth worked directly with coffee and tea growers for 5 years, and has visited growers in Kenya. In her spare time Ruth studies and teaches Kung Fu, and has spent time in China training with Masters, eating unusual and wonderful food and drinking great tea! Ruth came 3rd in the inaugural UK Tea Brewers Cup in 2015.
John joined Bean & Bud in October 2015, having previously worked as a barista for two years. He is a dedicated musician and has played around Europe and the UK including performances at Glastonbury. He can also sometimes be found running through muddy fields and rivers for charity. John is responsible for our coffee buying.
Jana joined us in June 2017. Originally from Slovakia, Jana represented her school at rifle shooting! She has travelled extensively, including encountering orangutans and sun bears in Borneo. With experience in bar management, Jana has loved exchanging fine spirits for great coffee!
Leah joined us in March 2015 as a coffee shop assistant, and her passion and commitment resulted in her moving up to train as a barista. She particularly enjoys making slow brewed coffees and has developed a love for fine tea. She achieved a pass in the SCAE Intermediate Barista Skills training.
Miles joined us in June 2018. He has spent the last 8 years exploring all aspects of the catering industry with a focus on honing his barista skills. He has a habit of starting a new hobby on a near weekly basis be it painting, Yoga, graphic design or cycling he’s always trying out something new!
Jennah joined us in July 2018, having studied Hospitality Management at City of Glasgow College and working in coffee shops there. She is passionate about food and in her spare time she loves to cook and experiment with flavour combinations. She also likes to travel to different countries for the food and coffee scene!
