Guest Coffee – Volcano Autumn Blend2 November 2012 Uncategorized
Our new guest coffee is another great one from Volcano Coffee Works, and a little different. 90% washed Rwandan, roasted to two profiles and blended. The lighter roast brings out clean slightly spiced floral notes, while the darker roast give a big full body and a smoky sage finish. The roasters have added just enough Ethiopia Sidamo to provide a really interesting, sweet fruit body.

New Guest Coffee, New Guest Roaster!22 October 2012 Uncategorized
We have a fantastic new guest coffee, ‘Widescreen Espresso’ from Grumpy Mule. This is our first guest coffee from this roaster, though we have long known of their great reputation for quality and for direct trade with growers, and already know some of the great guys there. The Widescreen is a brand new blend of Honduras, El Salvador and Ethiopia Sidamo coffees. The first customer to try it tasted green apples and malt loaf, so that’s what we are using as our tasting notes! The blend comes up massively fruity as an espresso but surprisingly sweet and smooth in a Piccolo or Flat White. Come and try it soon!

We’re really excited that our almost resident Bluesman, Howlin’ Mat, is going to do a live session for us here at Bean & Bud on Saturday 8 December. We’ll start around 4.30pm and go on until 7.00pm, so great to pop in on your way home from shopping or your way out! What a great way to kick off the festive season. Hope to see you there!

Sumatra Wahana Estate
Process: Pulped natural
Roasters notes: An amazing natural processed coffee with big fruit flavours. Ripe stone fruit, raisins, cinnamon bark and tamarind. Medium to full body, medium acidity.
Provenance: Wahana Coffee Estate was established in 2006 covering 480 hectares at 1200-1320m above sea level. Using only organic fertilisers their plants grow naturally under the shade of century-old tree canopies. The Estate also supplies housing and purpose built clinic for the workers and their families.

Well, our current guest coffee is certainly dividing opinion, which is what we love! An exclusive micro-lot from our friends at Small Batch Coffee in Hove, with milk chocolate and plum notes. Good body with medium acidity.
Region: El Pastal, Marcala
Processing: Fully washed and dried on patios.
Our own bespoke Espresso Blend!19 September 2012 Uncategorized
We are really excited that working with Limini Coffee roasters, we have developed our own bespoke espresso blend. Bean & Bud blend is a blend of coffees from Guatemala and Costa Rica, expertly roasted to produce a coffee with notes of dark chocolate and stone fruit. Good body, medium acidity, smooth with a clean finish, our blend is great as an espresso and works well with milk too. Of course we always suggest that customers drink short milk drinks such as piccolos or flat whites, to get the best balance.
